Linda Miser
Creativity is influenced by a vast array of experiences, perception, and intuition. Although I began my career in art later in life than many others, I bring to my work all of the influences of my travels, my quest for self-awareness, and years of metaphysical exploration.

My artistic focus coalesced during my first trip to New Orleans in 1998. I toured the galleries of the French Quarter, walking among the street artists and soaking up the atmosphere of creative exploration around me. I was overcome by the sense of wonder and possiblities expressed by the ‘cosmic artists’, those creating eerie spacescapes and landscapes using their receptivity and the humble medium of spray painting to bring their expressions to life. The worlds depicted on those boards and canvasses spoke to me. I was struck by an awareness I can only perceive as a channeling.

I brought home with me this sensibility, and as never before was motivated to emulate the methods and results of the artists whose works I had seen. Throughout this experience, two forces developed simultaneously in my work: the visible and the invisible. As my work developed, I became more attuned to the sense that my works were being channeled, in other words, the awareness that the art comes through me, not simply from me. My efforts have also inspired in me to examine the lives of other artists. I find that I identify particularly with the primitive paintings of Anna Mary Robertson Moses (Grandma Moses).

Art, like life, is process. As I continue to grow and my work continues to evolve, I seek to unzip the viewer’s mind, using playfulness, humor and a touch of rebellion.

My work has been exhibited throughout Southern California, most notably, in my solo exhibition at the City of Temecula Library, and in numerous juried exhibits in which my works have found buyers. I have been pleased to garner awards from various local art associations.

Currently, I share a studio with veteran artist Joseph Hawa, at the Santora Building, Suite B-10, Santa Ana.
